Experimental geospatial system

Project Meridian

v0.0.2 · Compact Candidate A
Experimental build. Meridian Keys generated before specification 1.0 are not permanent addresses. The grid, alphabet and key syntax are not yet frozen.

Meridian Key

Global location encoding, designed offline-first.

Project Meridian is building a compact hierarchical location code for the whole Earth — land, sea, poles and the International Date Line — with progressive precision targets of approximately 10 m, ≤4 m and ≤1 m.

Map elevation Not resolved

Street view uses OpenStreetMap. Satellite view uses Esri World Imagery. Map elevation is resolved from Open-Meteo using Copernicus DEM GLO-90 (EGM2008). Meridian horizontal encoding/decoding itself still happens locally in your browser. Elevation data: Open-Meteo / Copernicus Programme.

Phase 1 · Mathematical design

Grid geometry, information budget, alphabet, boundary rules and precision semantics.

Meridian Core 0.1

Deterministic encode/decode, cell bounds, parsing, global tests and reference vectors.

God's Eye View

Local Meridian Key lookup and generation, independent of external geocoding APIs.
